Insightful session with UKEF

Last week, The Caribbean Council was pleased to host an insightful member’s event with UKEF, presented by Natalie Rybova. We would like to extend a special thank you to Tom Hartley, the UK High Commissioner to the Bahamas and Jesse McDougall – Head of Export Finance for North America and the English-Speaking Caribbean (UKEF) for joining us.  

The briefing presented the range of products and support mechanisms offered by UK Export Finance (UKEF) to facilitate UK exports into the Caribbean, Central America, and Guyana.

The discussions explored how UKEF financing solutions support UK exporters and local Caribbean buyers, foster trade relationships, and foster economic growth in both regions with a focus on infrastructure and development projects.

  • An introduction to the Bahamian market
  • UKEF’s role as a UK export credit agency and its impact in the Caribbean and globally
  • Various successful case studies of past infrastructure projects that have been financially supported by UKEF
  • Discussions on future plans, opportunities, and growing demand for infrastructure projects within the region
  • How UKEF helps facilitate funding for UK exports and overseas buyers, and supports the UK supply chain
  • Services and events provided by UKEF aimed at increase trade between the regions
  • The impact of UKEF’s work on both the economies of the UK and various Caribbean islands
  • A Q&A session about trade, the future of the region, and the logistics of guaranteed funding for projects
